Artist Statement
I paint from my imagination with everyday life and my surroundings a constant source of inspiration. My sketch book is always with me and is full of ideas and sketches for future paintings. Often the sketches become finished works in themselves.
I’m interested in capturing the atmosphere and mood of the subjects I paint, not necessarily a photographic likeness. I usually don’t have a plan when I begin a new work and this makes painting exciting and risky. I enjoy the “accidents” that happen along the way.
I began painting with watercolours and I continue to develop my skills by learning more of the different types of media, tools and painting surfaces that combine to make exciting paintings.
I hope to create paintings that will that touch you in some way and allow you to relate to the works on your own terms.
